🌟 Meet the Cast of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - A New RPG Adventure! 🌟

Hello, fellow gamers! 🎮 I’m Jenn, the Lead Writer and Voice Producer for “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”, and I couldn't be more thrilled to finally unveil our phenomenal voice cast and offer you some exciting insights into our turn-based RPG. Since our reveal back in June, the response has been extraordinary, and it’s been a true joy to watch eagle-eyed fans connect voices to their characters in our trailers.

🎭 The Voices Behind the Characters 

We’ve poured our hearts into these characters over the past few years, so you can imagine how surreal (and rewarding!) it has been to see them come to life through our amazing cast.

1. Charlie Cox (best known for Daredevil) takes on the role of Gustave, the lead engineer of Expedition 33. As a resident of Lumière living under the Paintress' shadow, Gustave is determined to reclaim the city’s future for its children, especially as time runs out on his final year.

2. Jennifer English (from Baldur’s Gate 3) voices Maelle, a shy, 16-year-old orphan. An outsider in her own world, Maelle yearns to escape the constraints of Lumière. Her bond with Gustave, her foster brother, shines a light on her character’s journey to explore beyond what she knows.

3. Kirsty Rider (from Sandman) portrays Lune, the Expedition’s chief researcher. Intense and driven, Lune carries the legacy of her parents’ work and holds a heavy weight of responsibility as she aims to defeat the Paintress.

4. Shala Nyx (from The Old Guard) lends her voice to Sciel, a cheerful warrior who confronts her traumas with unwavering composure. She embodies the spirit of resilience, ready to face what lies ahead.

✨ New Characters and Plot Twists 

In our latest trailer, we were excited to introduce two new characters.

- Ben Starr (of Final Fantasy XVI fame) takes on the role of Verso, a complex and dangerous stranger shadowing the Expedition. Ben describes Verso as “lost, lonely, and dangerous,” who invites players to navigate the depths of intense emotions as they uncover his story.

- Andy Serkis, known for his iconic roles in The Lord of the Rings and Black Panther, plays Renoir, a man propelled by the fierce desire to save his family. Renoir understands that sacrifice accompanies victory, and he’s willing to pay whatever price necessary.

Let's not forget about Rich Keeble and Maxence Cazorla, who will also be bringing some of our cherished characters to life soon!

🌍 Crafting a Rich Narrative 

Creating the characters wasn't just about voice acting; we embarked on a multi-part process that meticulously charts the history of Lumière and each character's lineage. We delved into how past generations responded to the Paintress, shaping our characters:

What motivates them? What fears do they confront? How have their past experiences molded their choices today? In many ways, crafting this narrative is akin to playing an RPG, allowing us to step into our characters' shoes and explore their journeys.

⚔️ Combat and Exploration 

In addition to the cast and characters, the new trailer showcases exciting environments and formidable new enemies—Golgra and The Tisseur—that will challenge your agility and strategic thinking in our reactive turn-based combat system.

We’ve also introduced traversal innovations! The pictos-powered grapple allows Expedition members to navigate heights and cross gaps, making exploration faster and more engaging.

Bringing together this world, story, and characters has been both a thrilling and challenging adventure. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and can’t wait to share more about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 when it launches in Spring 2025!
